Here are my New Years resolutions:
I'm going through my closet today in preparation for the new year and a new start to my take on fashion. It's a bit overwhelming, I'll admit...but It's fun to work towards something that could be life changing. My biggest goal is my wardrobe capsules. In addition to those, I'm working on minimizing my life by getting rid of 100 items. Cleaning out the closet is definitely helping with that. I also want to take some time to read more. Alleviating my fashion situation will give me more time to read. Bonus! I also try to plan some sort of travel every year. Since I've never been to Las Vegas as an adult, that's the trip plan for the year. I'm also looking forward to continuing the wardrobe capsules by packing lean for travel. One thing I can already see is going to make a huge difference is my laundry situation! With 37 pieces in your wardrobe, that means a lot less laundry. Who doesn't love that?
So far, I've pulled out all of my excess clothing and split it into two piles. Donate and Box up.
Donate
(Buh-bye stuff I never EVER wear!)
A lot of these items, I haven't worn in a minimum of a year. Or they are things that are ill fitting and just not worth having in my wardrobe. I want to feel good every time I put something on.
Box Up
(See ya next season!)
Many of these items are seasonal: shorts, tank tops, dresses. Some are tops that I do enjoy wearing now, so that'll be a challenge not having them. But, I will revisit this stack o' clothes when I start planning for Spring.
Here's what's left currently:
I still have to finish boxing up and cleaning up the shoe situation and remove the boxes.
I've ordered the few pieces that I've decided to add to my winter capsule, and they should arrive in the next couple of days. I'm super thrifty when it comes to spending, so it can take a while to find good deals on quality items. Lucky for me, it's after Christmas and Old Navy was having a huge clearance sale!
Here's the break down of my purchases:
I didn't intend to purchase as many pieces for my winter capsule, but I realize that my sweater department was sorely lacking, and Colorado weather is COLD! Plus, with the sale going on, it was still well below my budget of
$200 per capsule.
After it was all said and done, my total spent for
my Winter Wardrobe Capsule is: $156.45
